Top Ten Thriller/Crime Movies on Netflix November 2023

Here is a list of the best Netflix thrillers you should watch in November 2023 – including mystery, crime, action, and a couple Stephen King horror/thrillers, there should be something for everyone who is looking for the best intense thrillers on Netflix, and all have been checked on Rotten Tomatoes to only pick the ones that are highly rated. Because Netflix doesn’t make it easy to find something good to watch, despite having many options, and this really bothers me. Which is why I went through all their videos to do the leg work so you can sit back and relax with some popcorn and get your movie started.

wind river

This mystery crime thriller received approximately a 9/10 score on Rotten Tomatoes.

“What can pass as a standard murder-mystery instead becomes a remarkably complex exploration of various malaises, including the agony of familial loss, the systematic disenfranchisement of Native Americans, and the ever-present evil of toxic masculinity.” -Film Frenzy

the nice guys

This action movie received a 91% review from critics and a 79% review from the general audience, giving it a well rounded 8/10 average. Despite being an action comedy, there are elements of suspense, depth, and adventure that I felt it would be best on this list, rather than the comedy list.

“Crowe and Gosling are brilliant together in something that sends up their tough guy images.” -BBC

prisoners

Starring Hugh Jackman, this mystery crime thriller is a must see if that is your preferred genre. It is “Certified Fresh” according to Rotten Tomatoes, and “has an emotional complexity and a sense of dread that makes for absorbing (and disturbing) viewing”.

uncut gems

Starring Adam Sandler in a role atypical of his usual slapstick comedy, this movie received a 9/10 from critics. Despite not getting a good rating from the general audience, Rotten Tomatoes declares it “Certified Fresh”. It is a mystery crime thriller with some humor mixed in.

in the line of fire

With a very high rating by critics of 96%, this 1993 classic mystery crime movie with Clint Eastwood is an old school, not to be missed film for anyone who appreciates thrillers.

Generously exciting, In the Line of Fire is mercifully free of that artificial energy that makes so many new movies look as if they were created with steroids.

emily the criminal

With a 94% review from critics, this crime/drama movie provides twists, turns, and a depth of social commentary.

“It’s energizing to see something as keenly observed and uniquely competent as Emily the Criminal. It’s a tense and engaging thriller that looks and feels distinctively different.” -Observer

1922

This horror thriller, based on a Stephen King novel, has a great rating from critics, although audiences didn’t seem to favor it so much. Slow moving and intricate, the consensus is it will get under your skin.

“1922 is an effective, chilling bit of work that boasts a revelatory lead performance and a compelling, gradual erosion of a man’s psyche.” -Ready, Steady, Cut

power of the dog

Another favorite of the critics (94% on Rotten Tomatoes), this Western drama is “as tense and evocative as any horror movie.” -Vague Visages, granting it a place on this list.

“It’s a slow build, and for most of the time, I had no idea where this was all heading – which only made its shocking but well-earned ending all the more gratifying.” -BuzzFeed News

the killer

This mystery thriller and action movie came out this year and has a solid 8/10 review on Rotten Tomatoes.

“The Killer has an old-fashioned feel and still manages to nail its target by bringing dashes of freshness, wit and unpredictability to this well-worn genre.” -CNN

gerald's gAME

9/10 from critics and 7/10 from general audience, this gets a combined rating of 8/10, and is certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes if Stephen King thrillers are your thing. It was a book that seemed impossible to set to screen, but it was well done and loyal to the text.

“As the renewed wave of interest in Stephen King continues to crash on our cinematic shores, we can only hope that future adapters and adaptions will be so well matched.” -AV Club
