Top Ten Comedy Movies on Netflix November 2023

Top Ten Comedy Movies on Netflix November 2023

There are not too many really great comedies on Netflix right now, but these are some that did fairly well on Rotten Tomatoes. I have to say that as I try to get through my list of Netflix movies to see in November, these comedies will probably take a back seat to the wide selection of stellar drama movies they are offering right now, plus a couple must-see classics that are taking the front seat. However, if goofy/raunchy comedies are your thing, these are what they have right now on Netflix.

mONTY pyTHON AND THE HOLY gRAIL

This 1975 movie has nearly perfect reviews from both critics and general audience alike (96% and 95% respectively). Multiple critics call it the funniest movie they’ve ever seen, while others, while not giving it such an immaculate review, still affirm that it is a classic you don’t want to miss.

“Monty Python and the Holy Grail may be 26 years old, but even in the fast-moving world of pop culture, it’s no relic. It’s still the Holy Grail of crazy comedy.” -Baltimore Sun

Netflix also has Monty Python: The Life of Brian and Monty Python’s Flying Circus.

Long Shot

Although this movie received only good reviews rather than great, I am including it here because it is counted as a “certified fresh” movie on Rotten Tomatoes. It is a romantic comedy starring Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron. Charlotte, a woman running for president, who hires Fred, a journalist and old friend, to be her speech writer.

“Long Shot is a solid, grown-up movie that isn’t afraid to be both silly and serious, and while it’s not a perfect movie, it isn’t afraid to strike an intelligent tone.” -Third Coast Review

No Hard feelings

A new comedy that came out this year starring  Jennifer Lawrence, who plays an attractive bartender hired by a couple to date their socially awkward son. This movie received good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes from critics and the general audience.

Don't lOOK up

This is a political satire in which astronomers try to warn the world that a meteor is coming to destroy earth. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio,  Jennifer Lawrence, and Meryl Streep. This did not get good reviews from critics and received average reviews from the general audience.

aNCHORMAN

An old classic Will Ferrel movie, containing little substance with many humorous comments. A good, goofy movie if you are in the mood for something light. They also have Anchorman 2.

MURDER MYSTERY

This movie did awfully on Rotten Tomatoes, but I wanted to recommend it because I enjoy Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston together, and I had a lot of good laughs. There is enough legitimate mystery to keep you engaged, a bit of a love story between them, and a lot of silly humor. I do not recommend Murder Mystery 2 though, it was not as good.

YOU ARE SO NOT INVITED TO MY BAR MITZVAH

A drama/comedy starring Adam Sandler and Idina Menzel, this movie is guaranteed fresh by rotten tomatoes despite a mediocre rating from the general audience (6/10), as critics gave it a 9/10. Just be warned that the people who didn’t like it really didn’t like it, and it is not a typical Adam Sandler movie – more like Are You There God, It’s Me Margaret.

FORGETTING SARAH MARSHALL

This did fairly well with an 8/10 review.

“Perfectly light and quite often wildly funny, this is a sincere comedy about growing up and becoming an individual without relying on a crutch for support.” -Deep Focus Review

SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD

I have never personally recommended this movie and it probably is not on my list, but I want to be fair and make recommendations for all types of tastes, and this got very good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes (83%).

THE JERK

an old classic 1979 comedy starring Steve Martin early in his career. With an 83% approval rating from both critics and general audience it’s worth a watch.

“An oddball odyssey so strange, filled with non-sequiturs so funny, and decorated by a romance so sweet, it was an inevitable star-maker.” -Simon Miraudo
