A couple embarks on a sailing trip, encounter a hurricane, and must fight together for survival.

Dirty Dancing

No Valentine’s movie list is complete without Dirty Dancing, an 80’s classic starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey.

Ever After: a Cinderella Story

This spin on Cinderella was my favorite version of the classic fairy tale as a kid, and it hasn’t lost its charm. Starring Drew Barrymore.

The Fault in our Stars

Hazel and Gus find love amid cancer battles, creating a poignant and unforgettable journey. Based on the book by John Green.

Garden State

In “Garden State,” Natalie Portman and Zach Braff connect in a quirky, soul-searching journey exploring life, love, and self-discovery.

Mona Lisa Smile

Julia Roberts challenges societal norms as an art history teacher inspiring young women in 1950s conservative Wellesley College.

The Notebook

An epic love story unfolds in this classic as Noah and Allie, played by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, navigate social barriers and timeless devotion.

Slumdog Millionaire

This movie would perhaps not be found under “romance”, but it is such a moving love story it needs to be included. Set in India’s slums, “Slumdog Millionaire” follows Jamal, a Mumbai orphan, as he navigates poverty, adversity, and destiny to win the Indian version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” as he searches for his lost love.

Little Fish

In “Little Fish,” a couple navigates difficulties that test their love in a world plagued by a memory-erasing virus.

Matrix: resurrections

You are probably wondering why a Matrix movie is on a Valentine’s Day movie list. Although it definitely first would be categorized as an action/sci-fi, this is a deeply moving love story and had me in tears. You do need to have at least seen or known the context of the original Matrix movies to understand it. Neo and Trinity have such a powerful love story throughout the movies. If you saw it and didn’t like it, I recommend watching it again through the lens of undying love against all odds and see if it hits you differently.

Crazy Rich Asians

Rachel, an American professor, faces opulent challenges when she discovers her boyfriend is a wealthy Singaporean in this extravagant romantic comedy.

A Knight's Tale

Starring the late Heath Ledger, set in medieval times.

“If all you want to do tonight is watch something funny, exciting and deeply likeable, A Knight’s Tale is a vintage gem.” -critic on Rotten Tomatoes

Australia

Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman’s characters find love amid war-torn Australia’s breathtaking landscapes, defying societal norms.

Little Manhattan

Tween romance blossoms in Manhattan as young hearts navigate first love, awkwardness, and the magic of connection.

House of Flying Daggers

An Asian action movie with a love story and phenomenal cinematography. Powerful love unfolds amidst political intrigue as a blind dancer and a rebel warrior navigate deception.
