Quick Minimalist Makeup Routine: Five Products, Five Minutes

Quick Minimalist Makeup Routine: Five Products, Five Minutes

Five minute and Ten minute makeup routines for a subtle no-makeup look

Whether you are a minimalist by nature and are want to keep the number of products you buy to the simplest collection, or you want an every day look that doesn’t take a lot of skill or time but helps you look put together and feel that sense of effort and preparedness for the day, these five products together work really well to give a complete look.

There are a lot of YouTube makeup tutorials by makeup gurus who know a lot more about makeup than me, and who have a lot of time and money to invest into twenty different products to create some kind of perfect look. Personally, I feel it is over the top to have to apply five different skin products before even getting to the bronzer or blush. Someone may have the patience and budget to spend thirty minutes applying makeup to look like they are not wearing much makeup, but not me.

So if you are looking for five simple yet effective products to carry around in your purse, these products work wonders. If you are looking to shorten the routine even further and skip the foundation, here is a faster routine. If you are looking for a bit more detail, here is a routine that uses a few more products to pull it all together.

foundation: Summer Fridays

If you are looking for a sheer foundation that gives light coverage but evens out your skin tone, this is a great one to try.

Benefits:

-diminish the appearance of redness

-visibly plumps fine lines

-fortifies the skin’s moisture barrier

-facilitates a smooth, even application

It is expensive, but it has great ingredients and it lasts forever because you literally only need a small dot to cover your face. It provides light enough coverage that you can’t tell you are wearing anything, but it sets a clean canvas for the rest of your makeup and leaves the skin with a radiant and nourished finish.

If I’m in a mad hurry I skip it, but if I’m rushing-yet-have-five-minutes I do not skip this step.

cONTOUR /brONZER: GXVE Gwen Stefani

The GXVE brand by Gwen Stefani has a duo compact called “Pick It Up Cream Contour & Talc-Free Powder Bronzer Duo”.

I went to Sephora for a makeup consultation, where they give you recommendations and help you try a bunch of products. (It’s free as long as you spend $50, so if you know you are going to be buying something anyway, it’s worth it.) I’m really glad the woman suggested this product.

This duo comes with a cream contour for sculpting and defining and a bronzer shade for adding a sun-kissed glow for well-defined and natural-looking complexion. It comes in multiple shades and has a mirror inside.

blush/Eyeshadow: Benefit Cosmetics

I like the Benefit Cosmetics Blush for a couple reasons. One, I have the mini size and it is lasting me forever, even after frequent use.

Two, the dark shade goes well with a summer tan but also doubles as an eye shadow. It may be totally criminal, I really don’t know the rules, but it looks really nice to have a monochromatic, natural look.

And three, as an artist, I really appreciate the well-done graphics for each blush shade.

(Tip: You should use a blush that is close to the color of your natural flushed look.)

mascara: Milk

Milk products are known for their commitment to clean beauty and their formulas’ high-quality, nourishing ingredients.

A lot of mascaras seem to do almost nothing to your eyelashes, but this Milk Mascara immediately delivers long, thick, and clump-free lashes. It gives a dramatic, dark look minimal effort.

The mascara features a sleek and simplistic packaging design, reflecting the brand’s modern and youthful aesthetic. It comes in a regular or mini size.

Lips: toO fACED lIP lINER

Too Faced Lip Injection products are the best lip plumping products I have tried.. They are really effectual to make your lips bigger, and the plumpness lasts even after the product washes off.

I really like their Extreme Lip Shaper lip liner. It takes a minute to outline my lips and then rub it in, adding a little color and definition, and then the tingling sets in and you can absolutely see a difference.

It comes in six shades. You can top it off with some lip gloss or leave it as is. The only criticism I have is I wish it had a sharper point to be more precise with my lining.
